General Mitchell International Airport
Milwaukee’s General Mitchell Airport is located just off I-94 7 miles north of Racine County and offers excellent passenger and cargo services for business, industry and residents.
Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport
Over 70 million people a year travel through Chicago O'Hare International Airport, voted "Best Airport in North America" in 2000 by international travelers surveyed in Business Traveler magazine. The airport has more than 1,000 daily flights and every major U.S. and international carrier offers flights from the facility.
Located 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of downtown Chicago, the airport currently has five terminals, equipped with extensive and modern facilities and services. Recent upgrades at Chicago O'Hare Airport have included new amenities at the International Terminal 5 and an Airport Transfer Service, with major reconstruction work at Terminals 2 and 3 scheduled for completion by 2007. Chicago Midway Airport currently has three concourses, serving major airlines such as American, Continental, and Southwest. Recent improvements have included an expansion of baggage claim areas and ticket counters, and a new terminal-concourse bridge.
Chicago Midway Airport offers easy access from central Chicago in under 30 minutes via Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Orange Line buses, regional buses, downtown and suburban shuttles, and interstate highways. An hourly shuttle also operates between O'Hare International and Midway airports (7:00 am to 10:00 pm). Extensive short-and long-term parking is available, with the six-story Midway Airport parking garage offering access to the new Midway terminal building.
Chicago Midway Airport provides comprehensive facilities and services, including a quality selection of restaurants, cafes, gift and news shops, a business center, cash dispensers, police kiosks, and an interfaith chapel. Facilities and services for disabled travelers and for treating medical emergencies are available. Concourse A houses the Battle of Midway Memorial and an SBD Dauntless dive bomber suspended from the ceiling.
Local Commercial Air ServiceThree general aviation airports serve Racine County: John H. Batten Field, Burlington Municipal Airport and Sylvania Airport, all located within the county. Both John H. Burlington Municipal Airport Burlington Municipal Airport offers general aviation services and is located one mile northwest of the City of Burlington. The facility has a 4,300-foot runway and a terminal for use by general aviation pilots. Sylvania Airport Sylvania Airport is located 3 miles West of Sturtevant and is easily accessed from Interstate 94 and major state and Racine County highways. The airport is a non-towered facility and has parallel runways of asphalt and turf, each 2,360 feet in length. It's location, ease of access, and proximity to a variety of other airports makes it an ideal training location. |
